Before Aamir's Sitaare Zameen Par, Campeones H'wood Remake Champions Removed From JioHotstar

Aamir Khan is returning to the big screen after three years with a heart-warming sports comedy titled Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par.
While Taare Zameen Par was directed by Aamir Khan himself, Sitaare Zameen Par is helmed by RS Prasanna who is known for directing the 2017 hit Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.
Moreover, Taare Zameen Par was an original film whereas Sitaare Zameen Par is a remake of 2018 Spanish hit Campeones.
Besides the upcoming Hindi film, Campeones was also remade in multiple other countries/languages including in Arabic as Champions (2020), in German as Weil wir Champions sind (2022) and in Hollywood as Champions (2023).
Interestingly, the Hollywood remake starring Woody Harrelson was available to stream in India on JioHotstar for quite some time now but after the release of Sitaare Zameen Par trailer, Champions is now removed from the Indian OTT platform.
The film was directed by Bobby Farrelly of the Farrelly Brothers fame.
As for Sitaare Zameen Par, besides Aamir Khan, the film also stars Genelia Deshmukh,Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala and Ankita Sehgal.
The film also stars 10 special actors — Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Ashish Pendse, Samvit Desai, Simran Mangeshkar and Aayush Bhansali.
Sitaare Zameen Par releases in theatres on June 20, 2025. After its theatrical window, Aamir plans to skip OTT screening and may drop the film on YouTuber pay-per-view format.
