Aamir Khan Confirms ‘Big-Scale Superhero Action Film’ With 'Vikram' Director Lokesh Kanagaraj

Aamir Khan who is known for doing one film in over two-three years is now lining up interesting roles in varied genres back-to-back.
After Sitaare Zameen Par which releases on June 20, 2025, Aamir will begin work on the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic to be directed by Raj Kumar Hirani which is slated to release on Christmas 2026.

Opening up about the much-anticipated film, Aamir Khan stated, “Lokesh and I are working on a film, it is a superhero film. It is a big-scale action film and it will start next year, second half.”
Interestingly, before the superhero film, Aamir Khan will feature in a massy and crowd-pleasing cameo in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming action entertainer Coolie starring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Upendra and Soubin Shahir.

While Aamir Khan’s upcoming confirmed films are now Sitaare Zameen Par, Dadasaheb Phalke biopic and a superhero film, he has time and again talked about his most ambitious film, a Mahabharat adaptation.
Recently, he stated that he is beginning work on Mahabharat by this year end but has now stated, “Mahabharata has been my dream for the last 25 years. It is not a film. When you are making Mahabharata, you are not making a film, you’re surrendering. I’m trying, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to fulfil my dream. Till the time I don’t make a basic foundation for it, I won’t be able to answer. I don’t have the right information right now. All I know is I’m going to start work on it.”
Aamir was also asked about his films that have the potential for a sequel and he named — 3 Idiots, Dil Chahta Hai and Sarfarosh.
He said, “A sequel can be made to 3 Idiots with those three characters, who can meet later . Also, a sequel can be made to Dil Chahta Hai, and Sarfarosh.”
He added, “Like, in Dil Chahta Hai we can explore the mid-life crisis of the three boys , and they all are seeking therapy. So, it will be an interesting thing, you know, for the three of them.”
Aamir Khan’s line-up of films seem to be sure-shot blockbusters.
