A Unique Star
Today we shall speak of one such actor who personified style in Bollywood. He was known as a style icon and was Bollywood’s most stylish star. That individual is no longer among us but carved out his own path in the industry. The man we speak of is the one and only Feroz Khan.
A Different Style
Feroz was known for liking fast cars, cigars and horses. He was the Indian version of the western hero so to speak. It shows in his mannerisms on screen as well. He delivered several blockbusters between the 1960s and 80s such as Arzoo, Aadmi Aur Insaan, Khotey Sikkay, Kaala Sona, Dharmatma, Qurbani, Janbaaz and Dayavan.
One’s Own Rules
But despite his lavish lifestyle, Feroz always believed in family time. That is why he made it a rule to never work on Sundays. For these reasons he even said no to hits such as Hera Pheri (1976). Vinod Khanna ultimately got the role he said no to. Of course, this never hurt his popularity. His style was such that people compared him to Hollywood legends like Sean Connery and Clint Eastwood.
What a Role
Born in 1939, Feroz passed away due to lung cancer in 2009. His son Fardeen is also an actor and is slowly rebuilding his career. Feroz’s last on-screen role was also iconic as he played the dynamic RDX in Welcome that came out in 2007. It also starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar. It is a character Bollywood lovers have never forgotten.
Gone but Not Forgotten
Feroz was one of a kind whose off-screen persona also reflected the characters he played in movies. It set him apart in a class of his own. A Bollywood legend in his own right, he certainly stepped out of the shadow of the big stars and carved out his own path in the industry.
